Go for it. I found the bog standard 300b operated like that much nicer. My only gripe was, why pay for a 300b to make it sound like a 2a3 which is much cheaper and sounds like that by nature.Now the meshies are in the picture it's a whole new ball game, there is a reason to use the 300b. And longevity would be a major benefit.
Lastly, what about filament starvation. I like to do that, allways adds quality in my experience. I don't do it as a valve saving measure, but because there is less distortion and a sweater sound.
But I owe the discovery like vertually everything else I have proven that incidentally is little practiced anywhere to Steve Bench. The man is a maverik I just don't understand why so many people are going in a totally different direction.
