I built mine using iron out of an old SE EL84 console I bought for $10. I quickly dumped the single 6SL7 and adopted a 6SL7 SRPP set-up.VERY GOOD sound for <$200; not great, but hey, it's cheap, even with the 45's and VT-229's. I picked up some oil power supply caps cheap last week, tho, so now I really need(?) to re-build with some serious output iron.
