My buddy Kurt and I will be able to compare the 71A vs the 45, in similiar circuits (parafeed with similiar components.) I'm waiting for iron (Magnequest EXO-145) for my 71A, should be here in a week or so.I don't know what the validity of this will be. I agree with Jim, it depends on components selected, circuit, speaker, etc. For instance, SET's sound terrible on most conventional, low efficiency speakers. So therefore people conclude they sound terrible. I haven't heard a 300B yet that I liked (admittedly I've only heard a few), but that doesn't keep me from believing that the right combination for me, in the 300B, exists.
Generalizations are generally too general :)
