A Grateful Dead story

About 1971 or so, when i was 19, my friend and i went to the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, Calif to see the Dead. We didn't have tickets, but thought if we hung out at the stage door, we might find a way to get in.Back then, security wasn't a big thing. About an hour before the concert started, we heard some faint sounds of accoustic guitars. We followed the sound to a window and peeked in and there was the Dead practicing. Someone in the room, maybe a road hand saw us and said if we got them some coffee, they would give us a stage pass. We couldn't believe our luck. We got the coffee and we were given a stage pass. Anyway, we saw the Dead standing behind the curtains for i think a four hour gig. That was the time when they had two drummers. Great concert. We tried to sneak out after the concert with the pass but were stopped and asked to give it back.I'm sure that pass would be worth quite a bit today. Anyway, that was the best Dead concert i had been to. I do remember joining the Dead fan club around 1974 and getting some free stuff- a 45, some posters, etc. Don't know if that stuff is worth anything. Besides seeing the Dead, i was lucky enough to have seen live Hendrix, the Doors, Rod Stewart and the Faces, Led Zepplin, Jetho Tull and others.
