35 years ago, we were still in high school, or waiting for college to start. Thus, while some of us had a drivers license, no one really drove. And that's when we heard Cyndi Lauper's "I Drove All Night."
See, we always try to give you a different perspective. Most photos of Lombard Street are at the crooked part. But this was the view up Lombard, from Columbus or North Beach Playground, where we were playing softball.
We did not know that "I Drove All Night" was another Steinberg & Kelly song. In addition, it had initially been given to Roy Orbison. Alas, Orbison passed away, and his version was not released until late 1992. Still, radio stations do not play either the Lauper or Orbison version of "I Drove All Night."
