In the 1990s, we were in and just out of college. So when we traveled, we stayed at budget hotels. They all kind of looked like this.

In 1994, my friend Maggie (above) liked Boston's "Magdalene," which was close enough to her name.

Even when soaking in the hotel's inelegant tub, Maggie was singing "Magdalene."
