At the end of 1998, I would go to San Francisco's Ultimate Sound, where I ordered, among other things, cables from Kimber and XLO. I'd then meet up with friends in Union Square. First of all, we were all hearing about something called "Y2K."

Second, it was just a matter of time, but now we had The Offspring's "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)." It poked fun at suburbanites, trying to be all gangsta rap.

We loved the lines:

"He needs some cool tunes, not just any will suffice
But they didn't have Ice Cube so he bought Vanilla Ice"
