Kenny Loggins, "Danger Zone"

Oh no, I happened to be in PE, the first time anyone talked about Kenny Loggins' "Danger Zone." And it was all about making us believe that we could fly, or take off like jets. Okay, the optimism was good, but in real life, our bodies wouldn't cooperate. And that was when we were teenagers, not as heavy and slow as we are now.

"Danger Zone" did cause us to look up, and spot air vehicles. And if we were near the Bay, there was a sort of beauty, in watching planes, helicopters, and "UFOs." Nope, no drones back then.

Anyway, Giorgio Moroder wrote "Danger Zone" for the movie, Top Gun. Before giving it to Kenny Loggins, "Danger Zone" just did not work out for Bryan Adams (he thought it glorified war), Corey Hart (he wanted to write his own material), REO Speedwagon (who also wanted to write their own material), and Toto (contractual disagreements).

In the summer of 1986, "Danger Zone" would peak at #2, behind Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer."
