An audiophile, who claimed to be from Armenia, but now living in New York, wrote, "Hell yeah, Lummy! This song rocks!" He was referring to Journey's "Be Good To Yourself," and he later added, "Journey's all over the radio, but they gotta play this more!"
In late April 1986, in order to meet my relatives in San Rafael, my family was driving across the Golden Gate Bridge. Via the car's FM radio, that was the among the first times we heard Journey's "Be Good To Yourself."
It turned out that, as Steve Perry's mom was dying, the band fired the rhythm section. So they hired drummer Larrie Londin, who had performed on Perry's 1984 solo album; and bassist Randy Jackson. Yes, that Randy Jackson. Parts of the studio equipment were hooked up with Monster Cable, and yes, Raised On Radio did sound like it, with the barely audible cymbals.
On a different trip, we went on south 280, past Serramonte. As you went by Crystal Springs Reservoir, the guitar outro of "Be Good To Yourself" made it feel as though your big ol' clunker were a sporty top-down convertible. "That's what it's about," wrote the Armenian audiophile above.
