An Inmate emailed, "Hey, my wife is from Brazil. But she came here [the U.S.] in the 70s, before Sepultura, and maybe before you guys were born. In fact, she only knew about them, because you kept writing about Chaos A.D. "
At the very end of 1989, my friends learned about Sepultura, through their Beneath The Remains album. So when Arise came out in Winter/Spring 1991, my friend Todd took a chance, and bought it. And it was "Dead Embryonic Cells," which garnered some MTV play, and made the band an American household name.
Pretty cool, in Winter 1992, I bought this CD single from a local Santa Cruz record store. While one of my bowling teams was called "Desperate Cry," another trio, consisting of high schoolers, because they were from SE Asia, named themselves "Third World Posse."
The Inmate wrote, "Damn. No. Other audiophiles don't talk about bowling teams. Maybe the beer, but not the bowling. And they sure as hell wouldn't name themselves after heavy metal. Great stuff as always, my boy!"
