30 years ago, during the Spring '91 quarter, White Lion came out with an underrated new album, Mane Attraction . On it, the band revamped their mid-80s song, "Broken Heart." And this 1991 version Rocked!!!

Back then, I had met, via the student clubs, CC2. She had come from China, and I have no idea how she found and decided to attend, of all places, UC Santa Cruz. She studied hard, and her English did improve over time. But she found it interesting, that we Americans were so into music. And glam metal was something she hadn't heard, until she got here.

You had to question, whether "Broken Heart '91" really made you feel optimistic after a breakup. Or did it just make you miss your ex even more? CC2 and I actually bought a promo CD single, at our campus radio station, KZSC. As for the album, CC2 took that CD with her, so, years later, I bought another copy, pictured above.

Don't miss the album's two excellent power ballads, "You're All I Need" and "Till Death Do Us Part."
