Gino Vannelli, "Living Inside Myself"

40 years ago, I was in 4th grade. The school was in the Marina District. When the school day was over, you could feel the cold breeze start to gust from Bay to land. The fog was still out, to the west of th Golden Gate. And with this as the backdrop, there was nothing like hearing lite rock.

New for the early-80s was Gino Vannelli's "Living Inside Myself." We thought he could have been from L.A. or New York. But no, he was actually from Montreal, Canada!

In those days, my dad would take us for short drives around the Bay Area. We loved hugging the coast. We'd get down to Half Moon Bay, and still get KOIT. Loved hearing "Living Inside Myself." But then, as we went south towards Santa Cruz County [pictured at the top is the Pigeon Point lighthouse], we lost radio reception.

In the late-80s and early-90s, "Living Inside Myself" was still a lite rock staple. And then, in the mid-90s, when we turned adult, and started to drive, we'd take similar drives. And there was nothing like being with 3 of your female friends, freely, passionately, and enthusiastically singing "Living Inside Myself."
