25 years ago, my girlfriend ACS was my bowling partner. Our travel league and tournaments were mostly in the Central California Valley. Before and on those weekend trips, we liked to buy new CDs. So on those drives, in ACS' little red Toyota Tercel, we could listen to those new CDs.

Every now and then, we'd bowl at alleys near the coast, in towns like Pacifica, Santa Cruz, and Salinas. We'd never miss the opportunity to hit the beaches. With Jackson Browne's "The Barricades Of Heaven" playing, we just felt good and at ease.

After living her whole life near the coast (I guess her four years at UC Berkeley were close enough), ACS continued working on the mid-Peninsula, but got married, and then moved to the 680 corridor. We don't hear "The Barricades Of Heaven" on the radio, but ACS and her husband still play it.

ACS recently mentioned that "The Barricades Of Heaven" is now 25-years-old. But when it came out in 1996, we were not yet 25-years-old! Where'd the time go?

More recently, Browne is known to perform "The Barricades Of Heaven" acoustically. So check those out, too.
