25 years ago, I subscribed to Stereophile and TAS. But in our thirst for more, I'd go to San Francisco bookstores, and read other audio or music-related magazines. On a mild, fog-free afternoon, I was in Union Square, reading such magazines. My girlfriend ACS then joined me, and she brought out some travel books, in preparation for a drive down to SoCal.
Bruce Hornsby's "Walk In The Sun" played, and as good as home life was, we eagerly anticipated the trip to SoCal. This time, instead of taking I-5, and having ACS' little Toyota Tercel struggle through the Grapevine, we were going to take our time, and take 101. Since this took place in February, even SoCal wasn't totally sunny, but at least it wasn't hot. We stopped off at several of the California missions, including San Juan Capistrano. That was not far from AudioQuest's HQ in San Clemente, but by 1996, I had swapped out my old AQ, in favor of a different California company, XLO.
On "Walk In The Sun," Hornsby was solo, but he did bring along The Range's drummer, John Molo. The Yellowjackets' Jimmy Haslip plays bass, and Pat Metheny adds guitar. Since music videos were hardly ever played in 1996, most people, including audiophiles, have never seen "Walk In The Sun."
