In 1989, Steve Vai, who had been David Lee Roth's guitarist, joined Whitsnake. DLR then found Bay Area whiz, and Cacophony member, Jason Becker. In 1991, while recording, Becker felt laziness in his arms. He was diagnosed with ALS, and has been paralyzed from the neck down ever since. Becker is still alive, and he communicates via eye movements.
30 years ago, we were going through a long drought. Though it was nippy outside, the video for DLR's "A Lil' Ain't Enough" inspired my dormmate, Heather, to lead us to the Santa Cruz Beach.
When we got back to the dorm, we were crusty, dirty, grimy, sandy, and even wet. Once again with "A Lil' Ain't Enough" playing, Heather (a wannabe hippie from L.A., who knew glam rock well enough) had an idea. Like cars lining up for a car wash, she wanted us dormmies to line up at the first floor restroom (whose shower, unlike the other floors, had a hose), and do a "student body wash." Heather would pull that off in February 1991, but more on that another time.
30 years later, sometimes you just need a glam rock song like "A Lil' Ain't Enough."
