Simple Minds, "All The Things She Said"

During the Fall 1985 semester, CH was my classmate in both World Civilizations and P.E. Other than in sports, I'd never really touched a girl. But sigh, as part of P.E., we had folk dancing, about which I knew nothing. The class was 2/3 girls. So as a guy who knew nothing about dancing, how were you supposed to lead?

While almost all of the girls got frustrated with/at me, CH did not. She actually grabbed my left hand, and placed it on her hip. She smiled, "I'm not radioactive," and made it okay for me to get closer. She actually interlaced her fingers with my right hand (see her corresponding left hand above), something I don't recall having done before.

Anyway, in those days, one of the joys was receiving gift cards to records stores, and then, still on winter break, hitting the stores. That's exactly what CH and I did, and we went to the iconic San Francisco Tower Records on Jones & Columbus. And you know what? This was the first time, when you and a friend consulted with each other, and decided not to buy the same thing. So you "let" CH buy Simple Minds' Once Upon A Time (on cassette).

Back in school (I don't have photos of CH in World Civ or PE, but the one at top was in Algebra), CH shared her Simple Minds cassette, and said that she really liked "All The Things She Said," which got her into a cold-weather mood. Later that Spring '86 semester, Simple Minds would come out with a video.

Since radio stations only play Simple Minds' "Don't You Forget About Me," change it up, and play "All The Things She Said."
