Yeah yeah yeah, the joke has always been that (a) our parents got together to The Carpenters' "(They Long To Be) Close To You," and (b) we may have been conceived to this song, too. But people have forgotten that "(They Long To Be) Close To You" was yet another Burt Bacharach/Hal David composition. Moreover, people have forgotten that the late Karen Carpenter played drums.
In the mid-to-late 70s, we watched Sesame Street. The Carpenters' version of "Sing" then reopened their back catalog, including "(They Long To Be) Close To You." Their version of the latter is now 50 years-old, and is still played on lite rock radio stations.
