Ozzy Osbourne, "I Don't Know"

Missed opportunity.

40 years ago, at the end of 1980, I went over to my cousins' house in Marin [recent view from Mt. Tam]. By then, we had heard that Ozzy Osbourne left, or was fired from, Black Sabbath. Somewhat surprisingly, Ozzy had worked on solo material. We had heard rock radio play "Crazy Train," "Mr. Crowley," and "I Don't Know."

In Ozzy's native Great Britain, he had released a new album, Blizzard Of Ozz . Had it come out in the US, it probably would have sold decently, during the holidays. Instead, it did not hit the States, until Spring 1981. I don't know why there was that American delay.

Anyway, it is hard to believe that "I Don't Know" is now 40 years-old. We would have said 4, not 40. Time flies.
