30 years ago, my dorm neighbor Nora had a personality like Marcie from the Peanuts. Instead of black hair, Nora had long brown hair. A wannabe hippie, Nora preferred to be topless, but used her really long hair as a curtain, to cover her breasts.
Nora rarely smiled, and compounded that, by launching criticisms, which hit you in the stomach. For example, a bunch of us was lazily hanging out in the lounge, when New Kids On The Block's "Tonight" played. Nora gawked, "OMG, are they trying to be the Beatles?! Well, that's one way to piss off Lennon, and make him rejoin the Land Of The Living."
By late 1990, musical trends had changed, and the teen pop of NKOTB wasn't as popular. Thus, though Nora wasn't alone in her criticism of "Tonight," the song did not go as far as NKOTB's previous hits.
I'd go home, where "Tonight" was a little more well-liked. When I told my friends about Nora, they measured how long their hair was. But hardly any had hair long enough, to cover her breasts.
Among friends, NKOTB's "Tonight" has fared a little better. It usually effects a giggle out of my wife, whose mood then becomes lighter and more joyful. On CD, it's actually a tight recoding, which makes it useful, for evaluating audio products.
