On a rainy Saturday in November 1985, my classmate Darlene and I went to San Francisco's Japantown. The indoor mall provided shelter. Mikado was the name of the store, which carried Sanrio stuff. It also had a few transformable robots, and anime posters. Darlene liked the Orguss and Macross artwork.
We needed to take a break, so as we were sitting down, we did as we would at school: share a Walkman. And that was the first time I picked up on Sheena Easton's "Do It For Love," which put a bounce in our step.
Again, we have almost no photos from 1985. So you'll have to make do with this More modern one, of Darlene's daughter and a friend/classmate. Yes, they go to the same high school Darlene and I graduated from. And they have no idea who Sheena Easton is.
Darlene and I agree that, even in 1985/86, radio stations here did not play Easton's "Do It For Love" all that often, and they certainly do not now.
