Warrant, "Thin Disguise"

In 1990, glam rock band Warrant [in June 1989, my friends and I saw them at The Fillmore in San Francisco, with Kingdom Come opening] had just about completed working on their second album. However, record execs wanted to include an anthem. So lead singer Jani Lane sighed, and scribbled off "Cherry Pie" in 15 minutes. This was not a serious effort, so imagine the surprise and horror, when "Cherry Pie" became a hit, which then pigeon-holed Warrant as disposable hair metal.

One of my friends actually had "Cherry Pie" on cassette single. When she flipped it over, a much better anthem, "Thin Disguise" appeared. So for 30 years, we've made attempts to share this killer B-side. As far as we know, "Thin Disguise" was not available on CD until 1996, when The Best Of Warrant compilation came out.
