30 years ago, in time for the 1990/91 school year, that lineup of Duran Duran came out with a new album, Liberty . While Liberty was subpar and did not sell well, it did sport the more adult contemporary "Serious." "Serious" had a way of calming us in the dorms down.
And when we were calm, we loved going for walks on the UC Santa Cruz campus, on the beaches, and in the forests. Our mascot was the banana slug, and the pop cultural thing was to kiss it. You see, its slime had a numbing effect.
30 years, we may or may not be numb, but we still love "Serious," with Sterling Campbell's well-recorded drums.
