Wilson Phillips, "Impulsive"

If you were living in college dormitories 30 years ago, most students had the 14-meals-per-week dining hall plan. Due to your class schedule, you'd eat two meals a day. So we loved it, when staff from Student Housing hosted get-togethers in the quad, and provided drinks, snacks, and even tacos. This was a good vehicle, for meeting others in the dorms.

They'd have the outdoor speakers, and you never knew what kinds of music would be played. Wilson Phillips' "Impulsive" melted away your differences, and got you to befriend each other. Who knows? It could also have led to a few of your neighbors falling in love.

Everyone's now a middle-aged mom, and I find it interesting and heartening, that when "Impulsive" is played, the moms stop, let go, and just enjoy. Some now have kids who are in college, though, with COVID-19, the culture and dynamic are just not the same. The smart kid will point out, "Hey mom, on 'Impulsive,' Wendy Wilson sings lead, and that's Joe Walsh on slide guitar."
