35 years ago, at the start of our freshman year of high school, a bunch of us would play on the outdoor courts, after school. The only girls were (a) relatives, or (b) those we knew from middle school. Thus, the male:female ratio was around 6:1.

But anyway, as everyone well knows, someone would have a boombox. But when Wham!'s killer "I'm Your Man" came on, we all stopped playing sports, and just ROCKED OUT! It didn't matter what you were; you pointed your thumb at yourself, and sang, "Dontchu know that -- BAY-BEH, I'm your man!"

The students walking past the courts shook their heads, "Stupid freshmen!"

But this was why, as an audiophile, you didn't care what others thought.

Somewhat disappointingly, "I'm Your Man" was a one-off single. With such a killer song, we wanted a whole album of songs just as strong as "I'm Your Man." Alas, "I'm Your Man" would not appear on an album, until the post-breakup Music From The Edge Of Heaven .
