That was the year Sepulturas Arise album was released. I would argue that moment in itself is he opposite of metal dying. I was still playing Seasons in the Abyss at least five times a day. I'm sure I could go on and I wasn't even a metal only type person.

Though, to be fair, both Metallica and GNR had seemed to have lost much of their original fire by that point.

Since I was at the uni, had no money, lived in my trailer, I had no problem avoiding MTV. I was all in on the Seattle music scene but only had to hear the rap acts, some of whom I also secretly enjoyed, until someone cooler came on some other stage.

At least Metallica is finally making cool metal albums again. Their last couple releases seem fantastic in my opinion.
