For me, hands down it's Thin Lizzy. They crafted a sound that was totally unique and left behind a rich catalog of incredibly influential music. Second are the Undertones, one of the least recognized but still very important punk bands. You, of course, have to include U2 in the argument, but they're not my favorite.
