Favorite Audiophile LPs

I saw some posts on the MFSL and other audiophile LPs so I thought I'd add my 2 cents worth. I'm personally a big fan of LPs, but I also have a my fair share of CDs. For me, the ultimate sound comes from LPs provided you have a decent set-up. For 90% of people, however, I recognize that CDs are less perishable and sound pretty damn good on a decent CD player.

MFSL-1-045 Supertramp Breakfast in America

The openning chords of the piano on 'Long Way Home' are just incredible on this pressing. Their Crime of the Century album is also incredible. Another good one is Brother Where are you Bound.

MFSL-1-080 Joe Jackson Night and Day

Again, the slighly off-beat drums that come in on this album, Joe Jackson's singing, and the piano are hard to beat. The LP really brings the album home (over say the CD). Joe Jackson also has a nice two LP (really 1 and 1/2 as side four is blank) called Big World that's very nice and printed on audiophile vinyl.

MFSL-1-085 Ry Cooder Jazz

If you've never heard this album, you owe it to yourself to find a non-MFSL copy. The MFSL LP goes for $500+ on eBay, so it's a little steep for most people. The sonics are incredible and some songs like 'Shine' are lovely. Incredible guitar playing.

MFSL-1-120 Donald Fagen The Nightfly

This is just a great album from Donald Fagen, I especially like "New Frontier", but the whole album is great.

MFSL-1-146 Frank Sinatra Songs for Swingin' Lovers

Another great combination of performance and sound. (Hey I know Frank's not Rock, but he's cool in my opinion).

UHQR-1-035 Cat Stevens Tea for the Tillerman

With songs like 'Where do the children play' and 'Peace Train' it's hard to go wrong. There's not too much of a difference between the UHQR and the regular MoFi LP, so I wouldn't spring the extra bucks for the UHQR. I just got a bunch of them back when no one was buying them.

UHQR-1-084 The Alan Parsons Project I, Robot

Here's another great one from Alan Parsons Project. I especially like the way the pipe organ comes in in 'Don't Let it show'.

Nautilus

NR-11 Joni Mitchell Court and Spark

The title song, 'Court and Spark'and 'Help Me I Think I'm Falling ...' are great tunes. The Nautilus records in very nice.

Finally, I have the Beatles blue box set, but mine is the EMI/Toshiba Japanese import.
