Specifically I Changed The Locks and Essence. Her vocals drew you in to her pain and longing like no other I've ever heard. Almost TOO involving. Up there in Janis Joplin territory. Along the same lines I'd add Kasey Chambers. Among emotive voices for pop, Carly Simon had(s) a great set of pipes and could belt em out with plenty of emotion when the song called for it.
