Observational / Descriptional? Problems

My problem has always been how to describe (in words) what I hear when (attempting) communicating with others.

I am now listening to the "Golden Ears" training set of CD's from Dave Moulton. This wonderful program (8 CD's) has a whole set of exercises so you can detect various frequencies (how many of you can accurately detect 100hz, 1000hz? and say a 3 dB boost at a frequency) the effects of equalization; time and amplitude distortions, etc. using A/B drills.

I can now at least begin to identify frequency ranges; amplitude differences and other "perturbations", so it is not only adding clarity to my own interpretations of what I hear but a means to express this when talking with someone else.
