Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

I'll try to explain myself one more time.

As W. C. Fields once said, "if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it."

I'm not talking about the basic design ("...things like attention to radiation pattern, box Q and the such..."), but the result of building them yourself as opposed to buying the products of a factory.

There are a lot of people who modify their factory-made speakers by making minor improvements to the cabinets, etc., without changing the components or basic design. What do you call their changes if not 'tweaks?' How can you distinguish DIY from tweaked speakers without straining the meaning of the word?

You've lumped improvements with humbugs together into a single category that you call 'tweaks' and you will not entertain that there might be a difference.
