Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

It was your proposal, Tom .

You had to take it back later, sort of. In fact, you did not do a very good job of it. You simply restated it in terms of belief: "I too, don't believe a person should market a product they believe is fraudulent!"

Make up your mind: if we believe that certain products are placebos and sell them as audiophile products (either expressly or implied), then we would not be honest. Your revised proposal doesn't help matters much.

Actually, the sellers' belief has very little to do with whether a product is fraudulent, although it does something to exculpate the sellers. Their belief does not change the product or its performance. Moreover, I am of the opinion that manufacturers and sellers should exercise due care to determine whether their products actually do what they are claimed to do.

You also forget that the high price is part of the mystique, like Gucci or Rolex watch, though some products get through (as I recall, a little RS portable player once was touted as a super sounding product, but that fad didn't last long). The Sensible Sound did a blind test of a fairly cheap RCA CD player against more expensive products, but the results didn't convince a lot of audiophiles.

Besides, it has become clear to me that what you mean by a Lunatic Fringe Objectivist is one who doesn't state *your* opinions to *your* satisfaction.
