Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

"My system is a great, big tonecontrol that alters the sound of the signal in many ways."

Guess what? My system is one great big tone control (with noisy gain) as well. It's one fine system, but it fits the description. So does Kristian's system, even though I haven't any idea what it is. There isn't a system (yet) that doesn't fit that description in some way: it's only a matter of degree. We all decide which evil or set of evils bothers us less than the others. Or which ones we enjoy...I think it is all about preference, not a false achievement of the "absolute sound."

"I don't believe these are sufficient enough to know how this amp will sound, do you?" Well, given that I too run 845s with no feedback, I can venture a good guess, though I'm not skilled with the words to describe the sounds of a system. Others who know how tubes work and how they can transform music would know too. But really, why do you care? If you like how everything sounds, what Kristian thinks is irrelevant. Besides, he's mostly just trying to get you riled up, and he succeeded.
