** Extrapolation of assumptions **
Why would that be? Do you need to test every object on earth to declare that falling objects are subject to gravitational acceleration at a rate of 9.8m/s? Which reported audiophile experience out there has toppled any existing theory on acoustics, electronics or audio perception?
** It's very safe in that cocoon. **
You are the one (and other audiophile who share your viewpoint) living in cocoon, I leave you with a closing remark
"audiophiles resist the claims of audio engineering by privileging their personal experiences, and they argue against scientific methodologies that seem to expose those experiences as illusory (Golden Ears and Meter Readers,Social Studies of Science ,Marc Perlman October 2004)"
