RE: On-axis measurements

"If you think that on-axis measurements are of no importance, then so be it.
"

Now don't put words into my mouth Klaus. I never said it was of no importance but in a normal room it is usually at most only half the story.

If you want to damp your room like a recording studio or (even worse) an anechoic chamber then be my guest...you won't like the result. Have you ever been in an anechoic chamber?? I have in Southern California and it was a creepy experience. When no sound comes back to you your brain starts to think there is something wrong like your ears are stuffed up. Not an environment for listening I can assure you.

"Of course I have never heard this speaker, why should I waste my time?"

Well experience is never a bad thing now is it? Especially with regard to audio. I have heard this speaker and while I would never buy it the sound is definitely not nearly as bad as you think this measurement is. Because there has been care with this design to minimize typical cabinet colorations and the drivers used are also quite good in this regard the sound is quite transparent and low in self-made coloration. The suckout gives the overall presentation a somewhat distant perspective but intelligibility of dialogue was still pretty good.

"And of course there are other factors beside frequency response but maybe you should read the works of Klippel and Toole.
"

Maybe you should simply gain more firsthand experience.
