If you apply the same force you used to accelerate the loudspeaker in the opposite direction then it will slow down at the same rate it accelerated.

The air they move has mass. If you use a membrane to move air and the air has significantly more mass than the membrane then how important is the mass of the membrane? A more relevant parameter is the strength of the force doing the moving to the mass that is being moved.
