For me it's the listener

having decent speakers and often thinking about how the next model up would sound is the biggest problem for me because I know it never ends.

I see my dream speakers for sale used and know I'm not alone, I realize you are thinking technical attributes and I'm talking mental discipline, but If I should master it someday I'll have the best speakers there are, in my mind, and that's where it matters most.
