Since my digital front end is fully computer based (yeah, I broke all the rules and have an internal soundcard, but it all sounds better than the transport DAC combo I had), I know you are right about the resource requirements on the cpu. I don't however understand what that really has to do with anything??Isn't that processing all digital anyway?? At least until it hits the soundcard, or the usb device that sends the digital signal out to the dac??
Isn't that different than an analog signal??
But you may be right...I remember a recipe for speaker cables that used solid core EIDE ribbon cables. So maybe it doesn't matter.
As I said, I really hope you figure this all out scientifically...maybe some day there will be proof I wasn't crazy all these years.
Right now, I am not the guy to figure this out...
