Time? Yet almost any current PC (and associated buss and cables), can process audio data real time and still only use a couple of % of CPU or buss resources. So I don't think that the time issue makes music more problematic for audio cables vs. data in a PC. In fact the time requirements for PC cables are a lot more demanding. The cable xref could happen if we understood the parameters on the for amps and speakers that interacted with cables. With careful research, this could be a one time effort that could then be extrapolated to any amp, cable, speaker combination.
While it might be true that fine tuning for the right mate may require a extensive dating to ensure you have found the right person. I KNOW some things are showstoppers for me and it would be a waste of time to even go on a one nighter with a total mis-match. A more scientific approach to cables and sound can help narrow the field, so we can have more quality dating time with good candidates.
