Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

tongue in cheek response from someone in the "cables make a difference to me" camp

The following is meant as tongue-in-cheek, from someone who admittedly couldn't care less about the technical explanations of why I heard marked auditory differences in my system's sound with different cables when I was making my decision on which to purchase......

"valid justification"; justification for what - higher prices? various peoples' opinions on whether "high-end" cables make a difference in their listening experience? existence in the marketplace?

I'm not an electral engineer, so I don't know all the electromagnetic parameters that one can/should measure. But I seem to recall that Maxwell's Equations are supposed to provide a complete description of the electromagnetic fields (quantum effects aside - go with Feynman/Schwinger/Tomonaga's Quantum Electrodymanics if you want to include those; Quantum Chromodynamics if you want to include strong nuclear force considerations; the various string theories, superstring string theories, GUTs, etc. if you want to try to include gravitational effects). So perhaps a complete solution to Maxwell's Equations for each cable, accurate to 12 decimal points, would be the "best" way to explain the technical differences between 2 cables. I'd guess that such solutions would be different for different cables.

Or you could just listen, and chalk it up to one of those wonderful mysteries of the universe if you perceived a difference.
