Pat D you are back to your typical evasive tactics. I spent a good of time to explain logically via scientifically verifiable means, why ALL wires MIGHT sound different and as is usual you just ignore it completely, i.e dielectric impedance to magnetic fields!Then Pat you state to me "If you don't know that some phono cartridges are sensitive to capacitance." As if I hadn't already acknowledged capacitance as a reason wires can effect sound! Remember I said "It's a well known fact the LCR PARAMETERS CAN EFFECT how a wire sounds." and the C in LCR stands for "capacitance" so of course I know capacitance effects the sound of wires.
==========================================================
Next Pat you proclaim "you attribute to me a universal proposition, then whine when I point out that I don't hold it!" Once again you are stating a mis-truth. You state that you know capacitance can effect the sound of tonearm wire. Yet somehow you feel all other wires are miraculously immune to this problem. Thus it cannot effect interconnects, speakerwire or power cords in anyway? This is just plain untrue, period. There have been cases in the past of speakerwires with such high levels of capacitance, they sent some amps into oscillations while they destroyed others and that's a well known fact! What about inductance? High inductance causes high frequency roll-off. That's why it's suggested that one shouldn't coil excess speaker cable on the floor, because coiling the cable greatly increases the inductance, and high inductance causes high frequency roll-off. This is basic audio 101 Pat, and you know it!So yes Pat when you foolishly deny this universal proposition that I felt, obviously mistakenly, you were intelligent enough to realize, it demanded to addressed. How much other mis-knowledge have you spouted here as the supposed truth?
However, I'm not whining when you point out that I don't believe it, I'm amazed and shocked plain & simple! I'd be willing to bet even Real JJ would tell you LCR (that includes capacitance) CAN effect all wires! But you believe what you will.
===========================================================
Then you totally ignore that I said "In addition one needs to consider both metal purity and the type of dielectric used." Even though both are logical, scientifically verifiable and measureable. But because you don't believe that you won't acknowledge it. As if these two things couldn't possibly effect the sound. That is just plain foolishness or ignorance on your part.
============================================================
Next Pat states "You have had jj tell you some of the basics about audio perception. He's a real expert, world class. It's your loss."
I haven't lost anything Pat. I just prefer to trust me ears over measurements and Real JJ opinions. If you wish to kneel at the alter of Real JJ's specs and measurements you can choose to if you prefer. I respect Real JJ's vast knowledge, but my ears tell me that there's something more yet undiscovered that will one day disprove much of what he believes to be true today.
============================================================
Lastly Pat you end with:As for interconnects, well, you can believe what you want: I do just that and will continue to Pat.
============================================================1) You may or may not have actually heard a difference (I assume you have perceived one). I have heard a difference, I know I heard a difference and even offered to PROVE it to you.
2) You haven't proved it to yourself, you have only satisfied yourself that you do, but you seem easily convinced. Easily, how do you know how long I listened and compared? It actually took months, so if that's quick & easy by your standards so be it. I could even prove it to you, should you ever wish to learn the truth, instead of just spouting your beliefs as truths.
3) You evidently do care because you keep on trying to convince me. I'm NOT trying to convince you of anything. I'm just trying to make sure those less learned about these topics won't take your misguided opinions to be facts. You've already spoken one mistruth as fact i.e. capacitance only effects tonearm wire. Even though it's common knowledge that capacitance speakerwire have damaged amps in the past (I believe it was called Polk Sound Wire) Thus because of your errors I present another point of view for others to consider.
They can choose to believe you or me as they see fit.
