Not exactly. What I said is that the term absolute phase has no meaning when it comes to many musical instruments. This is because the constructive and destructive interference patterns are dependent on what note is played, where you are located, and which harmonic you are talking about. The first vibration one hears could be a rarifaction or a compression and all you would have to do to change it in the case of a harp even for the fundimental vibration of a single note is to place the microphone on the opposite side of the instrument. So if the harpist plucks a string by pulling and releasing it with the right hand so it first travels right to left, if you are on the left side you will first hear a compression and if you are on the right side a rarifaction and I defy anyone to tell the difference. Many other instruments give similar results but are more complicated to explain. I just gave this as a simple and obvious example to demonstrate just how absurd the notion of absolute phase is.
