Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

Laugh as if I would agree that bag pipes sound good!

I don't care if it's live or on a perfect recording. You would have me believe the recording quality and sound quality are the same thing. No way - sound quality is subjective and recording quality is an objective measure. If the recordings of bagpipes sound like live then it's probably a good recording but in no way does that mean the sound quality is good.

Now I've got a couple of old Supremes records where the recording quality is pretty damn bad however, on a good stereo, the sound of the music is absolutely wonderful. On most expensive hifis the sound of these records is comparable to the recording quality - ie. absolutely wretched. IMO this is what I expect from mediocre audio equipment - that the recording quality determines the quality of the sound. On a good system the content of the recording, not the attributes of a recording, determine the quality of the sound.
