Interesting. It's a great record sorry you can't enjoy it on your expensive equipment.
I'm not the one being arrogant here. It's the arrogance of those who dismiss these kinds of super records based on recording quality that drives me up the wall. Your observations on the quality of the recording may be spot on however it's my position that these things shouldn't alienate a recording.
Again it's easy to build a system that alienates some music while sounding great on other kinds of music. It's harder to build a system thats capable of bring out the best in all recordings. And it's even harder to build a system that offers up the best performance, ie. by definition gets the absolute best out of every recording.
I readily admit my process of component selection is relatively half-assed and flawed where the best I can do is hope for a good system. But IMO this is much better than believing I am building the best system only to end up with something that in reality that isn't very good and being forced into denial.
Good system = good sound. Bad system = bad sound. Anything else is just an excuse.
