Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

I think I'll put a nail in this silly recording quality myth once and for all!

I absolutely adore the lead singer for Concrete Blonde, old Laura Nyro records, Patty Griffin and Connie Francis among several other female singers.

Most of the recordings by these women aren't so great, and some are kind of bad but they sound wonderful to my ears.

Two female singers in particular, Dianna Krall and Patricia Barber are noted for releasing high quality recordings. It is excutiatingly painful for me to listen to any of that cheese regardless of the reported recorded quality.

This is just a few female vocalists where it's painfully obvious that sound quality has little to do with recording quality. To think there are a group of guys down below who would would suggest that my Laura Nyro or Patty Griffin records sound less than great because they aren't great recordings is the pinnacle of audiophile bubbleheadedness.

Even genre of music is like this, maybe classical less so, but ultimately it's the same as the rest of the world.

The depths we have sunk to in order to justify bad sound coming from our systems has gotten quite low!
