Ah you're just lucky they stuck with 16 bits.

With more resolution there'ld be no controversy.

Digital is already clearly superior in low priced systems than the old plastic vinyl and cassette systems and boomboxes that populated the majority of homes. There can be no question about this.

And the only reason vinyl is still around is because it takes more effort to make a good digital recording using 16 bits. If they would have went with more bits the recordists could have remained as sloppy as they have been all along with analog and nobody would have noticed. And very few audiophiles would be singing the praises of vinyl.
