RE: I Shouldn't Comment, But.........

The situation would be different if the satellite reception were analog rather than digital. With digital demodulation an S/N ratio of 20 db will result in a low BER (for most modulation schemes) while an audio signal with 50 db S/N would be considered unacceptable.

I realize the situation is more complex, but this gives the general idea without going into Communications Theory.

Given that people are building 24 and even 32 bit DACs, and some DAC chips claim more than 130 db S/N ratios, it should be obvious that building high quality analog audio circuitry is extremely hard, despite the apparently low frequencies involved. (Also obvious to any discerning audiophile, even one who is technically clueless.)
