RE: "it is not a belief, it is an indisputable fact that digital has superior resolution to vinyl."

Are you using this Hydrogen thread as your proof of this statement? I ask since there appears to be many logical holes in the argument, some of which are even brought up in the thread, which are never adequately addressed.

For example: Using 50um groove width and dividing it by 2^16 gives 762pm per step to achieve redbook resolution. However since the largest element used to make vinyl is primarily Chlorine which is generally accepted to be smaller than about 100pm. Presuming the vinyl molecules may be cut by the record cutting head and of course that the cutting head control is up to the task this implies that vinyl could in fact be more resolving than redbook. Am I missing something?

One might argue that based on crunching the numbers as I did with 16 bit that 24 bit beats vinyl. Since there is no such thing as any analog systems truly achiving 24 bit capture or playback that would yield a false conclusion as well. In my experience 20 bits is doing quite well which would imply that 24 bit aka 20 bit could just barely beat the resolution of vinyl.
