RE: But do you benefit?

Yeah I saw it before, and I read the follow-up messages as well. I find it interesting that in a subsequent response jj took up the issue of training and in particular spoke of training listeners to identify "annoying artifacts" that were presumably causing "fatigue".

Now isn't that interesting! I mean if they are being trained to detect "artifacts", which after all are "differences", then what purpose could there be for the formal tests?... to see if they were sensitive enough to pick up differences/artifacts that after all were identified during training?

Buy look I'll admit to a bit of speculation in that last statement. After all jj did not get into detail about the tests he had performed, what the circumstances were, what they were trying to accomplish etc.; although codex related artifacts is a reasonable guess as that what the fellow was involved with.

As far as quick switching goes I'm with Risch on that one, at least for the things I'm interested when comparing I have found that quick switching is fundamentally useless. Then again I'm rarely on the look out for glaring artifacts/anomolies, for example you wouldn't expect any such overtly obvious differences when comparing, say, two quality preamps.

....

Anyway enought time wasted on you... away!
