"Arguments from relevant authorities have their place."
Yes they do. We agree. There is, however, a huge difference between a generalized trust in authority that you describe (physicians, pharmacists, etc) vs. individual authority figures. jj uses what I see as a flawed protocol. Because of this, I do not accept jj as an authority on DBTs, and I am disinclined to accept him as an authority in his field because of this. Furthermore I'm sure I'm not alone in having just a bit of skepticism about the field of "psychometrics."
"Again, you utterly fail to address the question: what is the purpose of the blind audition? They can be done with different purposes in mind, but you ignore this and try to stay with vague generalities. You don't even seem to understand the significance of the question"
What thread are you participating in?? That wasn't the "question" being discussed. You have added it as a smokescreen to distract from the point I made, and to which you willingly responded: that the DBT is a flawed protocol for audio testing. It doesn't matter what the purpose is if it doesn't work. That it was adopted for use to help eliminate sighted biases is irrelevant if the results are tainted by the very test itself. I understand the significance of the point I was making: that you are attempting to insert a question mid-debate just points out how much you yourself missed the significance of the topic.
"You really should think before you say something."
Maybe you shouldn't have led with that sentence. It positions you immediately as one who is unwilling to enter into a discussion or debate if your position is subject to challenge.
