Hiding brand names does nothing to the sound quality of a component.
Making sure two components do not have different SPLs and different L-R channel balances does nothing to the sound quality in a comparison.
That "can't hear a difference" is such a common result when two electronic components are compared with the two useful controls listed above, is strong evidence that the commonly used specifications for electronic components are not very useful at all.
I don't appreciate your condecending speculation on what I can or cannot hear.
Your rude comment "there is no guarantee your hearing is any good" also applies to your ears.
I have tested my ears over 16 times using blind tests and have been very surprised by how tough it is to hear A-B differences for me, and for all audio club members who also participated in the group tests.
We don't participate in tests with an "all components sound the same attitude" -- a typical attitude is "I want to hear a difference to impress fellow club members, and avoid being character attacked by self-proclaimed golden ears".
You accuse me of "beliefs" and "foregone conclusions".
Not true -- I avoid beliefs -- I report test results.
You accuse me of claiming small measureable differences could not possibly be audible.
Not true -- I don't make broad claims on what measurements are audible
-- I report test results.
I study test reports and participate in objective tests to get a better understanding of how audiophiles perform, versus their beliefs.
The test results may not be impressive when compared to a golden ear's untested hearing ability claims, but my goal is to learn more about audiophile's true hearing ability, not to impress anyone with boasts about my hearing abilities.
Sounds to me like you've never bothered to test your hearing ability, but like to pretend you have golden ears -- I suppose no test could possibly be good enough for you?
Yes, hiding brand names REALLY changes the sound quality for some listeners!
Your post implies you somehow "know" more about my hearing ability than you know about your own.
How sad.
